I am finally going to make the move to vista Which one?

Vista Home Basic?
Vista Home Premium?
Vista Business?
Vista Enterprise (You cannot have this one unless you're part of an enterprise)?
Vista Ultimate?

Curious (Questions) -

1. what prompt you to take the plunge now?
2. Why are you in a hurry? Can't you wait until Vista SP1 comes out (due early 2008 IF the Beta phase goes well)?
3. More importantly if you have problems running XP they will follow you over to Vista.

before you install it on your exsisting machine, follow these steps:

1. Download, Install, and Run the Vista Upgrade Advisor. This will tell you if your existing hardware and software is compatable with Vista.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...

2. Take a look at page 12 (it says 24 in the magazine) in this article for help installing Vista properly:

I just want to start learning Vista and use it every day to become more familiar it.

What prompted me to do this now, I'm just tired of waiting.

I'm going to install Vista Enterprise. I thimk, I'll double check, I am using a MSDN subscription and I'm downloading it from MS.

Im not having problems with XP, just want to become more familiar with VISTA

It doesn't matter if you upgrade to vista. I have upgraded to vista and had zero problems with it. I like it alot better than xp, and I wont be going back to xp. I will wait till vienna comming out.

I would take the response above with a mountain of salt. Besides, you do not need another machine in order to try Vista. You can dual boot the OS with XP, you can try VPC & you can also try a virtual online test run JSYK.

P.S. Beware of the sentimental Vista dissent from folks who have never used the OS for a second & run from the ones defaming the OS that still primarily operate from Windows 98 machines.

As it turns out ....

The P.S. might have been right on target (pun unintended) & I was not -- in the slightest -- even aware of its proximity when I posted the P.S.
