Hi, you might think this is a silly question but my son's laptop Task Manager has the processes moving up and down in the list all the time. I know the CPU should go up and down but should the processes move around in the list too? If he wanted to end a particular process it would be hit or miss if he managed to click on it.

No it is not a silly question. Processes listed in the Task Manager are either passive or active. Active processes moves up the list rank order according to the CPU usage utilized. You could right click on a particular process to "kill it" but it is not the acceptable way to end a process without causing problem.

Thought this may help, If the process you wish to end is for a app that you are running you can right click the app and select go to process, it will highlight the process for that app.
