my gateway computer with window vista is unable to rip dvd disc to my computer,and also I could not copy from dvd to dvd disc.I do not have any special software on my computer that could do that job.What do I do?

What do you expect? Do you expect Gateway & M$ to help you break copyright laws by giving you the tools to rip commercial dvd discs? For a short perspective on the legality of ripping dvds, see this link
