Hello! My name is Apoorva. I found something wired happening with VISTA Restore point and we can call this as a BUG.
The incident goes like this:I have 2 Operating System (OS) installed on my computer:
Windows VISTA Ultimate & Windows XP SP2.
a)
I created a System Restore point in Windows VISTA and when I click on System Restore, it does show that the Restore point has been created.b)
Now, when I restart my computer and logon to Windows XP and then, once again restart the computer and when I come back to Windows VISTA and click on System Restore, it says that "No Restore Point has been created".So, this means that if I have created a System Restore point in Windows VISTA and then restart the PC and switch to Windows XP, the restore point in VISTA will be deleted automatically.
Does anybody have any idea about how to resolve this issue?
Awaiting revert...

Are you sure the restore point in vista isn't placing its restore points on your second dirve where xp is?

How can one find that? B'coz, as far as I understand, we can only get an option to Select / Deselect drive on which we need System Protection for both XP & Vista.
Even if I find out the System Restore folder, how would I know if it belongs to Vista or XP?
When I logon to VISTA, C:\ becomes the root system drive for it and when I logon to XP, C:\ becomes the root system drive for XP and Windows VISTA is assigned as E:\
Apoorva.

I have the same dual boot "Cdrive" set up.
This is not a bug... it is a CONFLICT between XP and Vista. The restore points for both OS's are in the same folder (Volume System Information). Each OS is trying to claim the contents of the folder.
I don't bother with system restore on either OS.... both are off. I do back ups by simply doing disk images (much better then system restore). But if you are going to use restore then it is best that you use it on only ONE os and not both.
