I have deleted files and folders on my desktop mistakenly by deleting desktop from the path
C:\users\harikumar\favorites\desktop . I tried to restore my system. But , system not restoring my deleted files and showing an error- " An unexpected error occured during system restore".Even I tried different system restore points , i still getting error.

Try a full Microsoft System Restore (I'm on a Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop). I did that and all my problems went away. It resets everything to factory settings so it's wiped clean. Backup any data (it'll ask if you want to) and then spend the next 1.5-2 hours watching it destroy itself and build itself back up again.. it's actually quite interesting to me to see it destroy its core just to rebuild it.

Jeez dude, is that your answer to every post in here? He's trying to get his files back, how in the world do you think doing a system restore and wiping his drive is going to accomplish that?

Harichamp, do a Google search for recovery software, Recuva is a good one. And in the mean time, do not install any software or write files to your hard drive.
