I wanted to know about the system restore. I have read a bit about it. I went to the cmd prompt and entered the string to let me see what is being used and I was a little shocked on how much Vista allocates to sys restore.
Used storage space: 51.754gb Allocated storage space:54.575 Maximum storage space: 67.650
I wanted to know if this seems high, if so what would be a good safe number to lower it to. I realize it creates a restore point at least daily and sometimes depending on what is done more than once a day but that is alot of space. Any advise as to a safe number or percentage would be nice.

Considering the price of 500gig drives these days, it's not much to worry about. You could do what a lot of others like myself do, is use Acronis True Image to make an image backup to an external or second internal drive or DVD and disable Vista system restore. In the event of a major disaster the image can can be restored in about 10 minutes for a 20gig instalation (if you have a lot of video and or audio files it pays to have them on a seperate drive or partition), to the same or a new hdd.
