System Mechanic Professional error message

April 7, 2010 at 15:18:15
Specs: Windows Vista
I installed System Mechanic Professional 9.5 and it works fine. The only problem is the error message which constantly appears, from the moment the computer starts up. It says "Windows cannot find 'C:/ Program Files/iolo/System Mechanic Professional 7/SMSystemAnalyzer.exe'. Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and then try again.

Every time i close the box it opens again a moment later. How can I stop it from appearing, i no longer use Sys Mechanic 7!

I got this solutution from Iolo support (it works perfectly):

Please exit System Mechanic if it is currently open. Please select the Windows Start button, click on Run and in the open field type REGEDIT

2. Click ENTER on your keyboard. This will open the Windows Registry Editor.

3. Click the plus (+) sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

4. Click the plus (+) sign next to SOFTWARE

5. Click the plus (+) sign next to iolo.

6. Highlight the folder named Startup.

7. On the right, highlight the Value name SMSystemAnalyzer or SMSystemAnalyzer 7 and click DELete on your keyboard.

** The Data next to this Value name will contain "C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic Professional 7\SystemAnalyzer.exe".

8. Answer Yes to confirm the deletion.

9. Close all open windows and restart the computer.

I got the same response from iolo, but that file does not exist in my regedit.

It seems to be an automated response to the problem because I have been unable to get an answer to my follow-up emails.

Is it a good idea to turn it off in msconfig? Or is this a symptom of a larger problem?
