Solved Suggestion for Converting text to audio for Windows Narrator

Specs: Windows Vista, 465 GB
I am trying to help my friends who are hard at hearing.

By taking a printed book, they would like to listen to, scanning a page using windows narrator or another text to speech software and making a audio book for them to listen to.

Now is it best to split up the sentences in the book to change to speech - as a man speaking to a lady would require two voices. Mans voice and the lady replying then record the sentences. I never have done this before and i am getting on in age. But I would like to be able to do this for them. I have been told it is quite simple to do, so here this goes.

Is there any body there who can help me and direct me in the right way to go about this? I have been told the free natural voice is the best software to use if narrator is not any good. Would like to have all information, please. Thank You.

To do what you want:

Scan the pages to your computer requires a software called OCR (Optical Character Recognition). This allows the transfer from printed text to regular text on your computer.

Even though some OCR software are very good, mistakes can still happen. I'd look through all the text and make sure there are no errors in spelling.

Once this is done, you'll need some sort of narrator just like the one that comes with Microsoft like you mentioned. This can be done but, you mentioned having a male and a female reading. This could be tricky but possible. What I would do it have a sound recorder and record the male's voice at one sentence/paragraph/chapter, pause the recording, change the voice to female and resume the recording.

Once this is done, you'll just need to save it all and give it to him by means of CD or through some Mp3 player.

Now..depending how long the book is, is there an option to have your or someone else just read it out loud while being recorded?
