Subject: Strange but True MemoryOS: VistaCPU/Ram: 4mgModel/Manufacturer: Generic |
Comment: Strange but true. This may be of help. Installed Vista Home Premium into computer with 4Gb of Ram. All Ram identical, ran OK in XP for years. After install the computer kept crashing for different reasons many times every day over a two week period. Advised to use with only 2Gb Ram, which I have done. For the second day have had no problems and computer is running very well. Trust these comments may be of help, for users, in a similiar position memory wise, and WITH problems. Could be worth a try, I was very sceptical with the advice given to remove Ram.

Reply: (edit)Tell us Gamer126 where he says he was using XP 64bit. Seems that sometimes your comment and advice is a bit obtuse! Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

Reply: (edit)XP was not run on 64 bit. Maybe, I was so pleased, to have the computer run without crashing after two weeks of frustration, that I made the post, with the idea, my experience/solution may be of help to someone in a similiar position.

Reply: (edit)Not all versions of Vista sees more than 3 gigs of RAM and it is a known issue. I am running Vista Ultimate 64 bit with 8gigs of RAM without a whimper of a problem.
