I had Soundmax driver installed and it worked fine and the soundmax manger which controls the audio equaliser worked too, but after i installed Sp1 on my vista it won't work as it should anymore?

I have sound on my computer, but the sound manager don't work so i have no options to control the sound output ?
The sound is very flat, and i would really like to add some more bass etc...
Earlier i could select between Rock, Pop, classic and several other sound outputs, but now i can't anymore.
The soundmax icon on the bottom right of the screen has also dissappeared.

When i play Battlefield 2142 i have no bass, and the explosions sounds like small firecrackers.

I have no idea where to find updated drivers.
I think i'm using the latest driver.
The driver i'm using is : 6140.
My soundcard is called : MCP55 High Definition Audio.
Manufacturer : ASUSTeK Computer Inc

If somebody have encountered this problem or know how to fix it then please tell me.
Thanks :-)

Try this driver.

Click either of the files linked to download the file & when prompted, select a drive & directory to save the zipped file ... preferably your desktop.

From the desktop, locate the archived file you just downloaded & double-click the SoundMAXADI1988_Audio_V610162_Vista icon.

Extract the Vista folder in the archive to your desktop & open the folder. Launch the Setup executable & follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation.

If prompted to shutdown & restart your system when the installation is complete, be sure to do that.

Good luck!

I tried to install the driver above, but i only get a message saying that the driver is not compatible with my hardware ?

After i examine the folders in this package, my antispyware software alerted me about a virus called "RIZON-A WORM!" ?

Could you post the error message verbatim?

Also did you try installing it via XP SP2 compatibility mode. FWIW, the "RIZON-A WORM" is likely to be a false positive flag.

Anyhow, try these other drivers ... from ASUS. Make sure to remove your current driver before installing the installing the downloaded driver from below.

To remove you current driver: Click on the Start Orb > Right click Computer > Click Properties > Select Device Manager from the navigation menu.

From there, expand the Sounds Column > Right click on your sound device > Choose Uninstall > Checkmark the Delete Driver option & Press OK to remove the driver.

Then reboot your machine & install the new driver.

I don't have XP, but i did try to install them in administrator mode on my Vista!
I tried 3 driver packages, and 2 of them i were able to install, but i couldn't see any icons in the tray bar with them either ?
The last driver i couldn't install, because i got an error message saying that the drivers were not compatible with my hardware ?
And the last 1 with the error message also made an alert in my antivirus program.
I don't know the word verbatim, as i'm not english i don't know all the English words (Sorry) ?
I can't find the virus alert in my log, but it was a big popup telling me that it has found a virus.

I tried to scan the driver package, but i don't get any alerts then.
It seems that i have to install the driver to get the message, but i won't do that.
When i tried to install it before, i got an error message and an icon in the tray bar.
The icon wouldn't dissappear after i uninstalled the drivers either.
I tried for almost 1 hour to get rid of the icon and i finally got rid of it by downloading an uninstall tool that removed old drivers, like soundmax, ati etc... even without the softwares being visible in the programs/functions in the control panel.

With so much work i don't want to install that incompatible driver, just to get the hardware error message and the virus message 1 more time.
