Subject: SoundMax Driver compatibility
OS: Vista Ultimate
CPU/Ram: 2ghz / 1gb
Model/Manufacturer: Dimension 4550
Comment:

I just upgraded to Vista Ultimate from Xp pro and now i need to install the audio drivers for my dimension 4550. There is no vista version on the dell site. I have tried to install the xp drivers in compatibility mode but i am still getting and error. Is there a way to install the drivers without using the actual install application? (such as dragging and dropping into appropriate folders?)

all help is appreciated.

hmmm ... i remember having troubles with a dell and the soundmax drivers in Vista. i read in a forum that the soundmax xp drivers from Dell was supposed to work with Vista. well, it did not for me, eventually i got a soundmax XP driver from the Compaq/HP support page that did the job ... unfortunately i cannot provide a link right now but it was definitely a compaq driver.
