Sound not working since OS upgrade.

Specs: Windows Vista, Celeron M 1.40 GHz CPU/ 1.25 BG RAM
I have a Dell Inspiron B120 Laptop. I recently installed Windows Vista on it. Since I've done that, my sound doesnt work. When I click on the speaker icon on the system tray it says " No Audio Output Device is Installed". When you go to the device manager and look at the properties for the audio device, it says: This device cannot find enough free resources that is can use. (Code 12) If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on the system."

I read in one forum that updating the Bios will fix it. I did that and it did nothing. Another one says to change the IRQ of the device. But I'm not sure how to do that on Vista.

Any other suggestions???

Might try bios. It either has a way to reset and if older has a way to select plug and play os.

Might look at device manager to see if or what other device is in conflict.

Resetting bios may help or set to failsafe or default settings may clear it.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
