I have a sound problem with the Vista OS. When I start up there is a multible sounds that keep going on. I went to the Control Panel SOUND and save this one so I wouldn't screw up something then opted for the default but still have the many sounds. I had this same problem on an xp and corrected it but lost the file. Thanks a lot for any support

Wish we could help one another as I have similiar issues with an XP audio that began and continues to stutter. When and if I ever get OEM support to resolve issue, I'll post back here. I suspect the issues may well be entirely MS (not platform specific).

I went back to the Control Panel SOUND and this time saved the default ORIGINAL for the sound. Just wanted to say that the other file had an asterisk, which I had changed & overlooked. This solved my SOUND problem. Have no clue how this multiple sound problem occurs in the first place.

Could you elaborate on this...

'back to the Control Panel SOUND and this time saved the default ORIGINAL for the sound'

Nothing helped my stuttering audio except reinstalling the OS.

Looking back, makes sense that after experiencing a driver that refused all efforts to uninstall it, too bad I had to reinstall the os to fix a driver that refused uninstallation.

Hi Steve!
Just as I had said "I went back to the Control Panel SOUND over to the left to "Sounds" and this time saved the default ORIGINAL for the sound. Just wanted to say that the other file had an asterisk,
Windows Default* which I had changed to "WINDOWS DEFAULT". This solved my SOUND problem".
