Subject: Soun not enabled at startupOS: Vista PremiumCPU/Ram: 1 g+Model/Manufacturer: Dell 531 |
Comment: I added some program or other and now at startup sound is not enabled. When I enable it, the sound keys on my keyboard don't work at all except mute. I tried reinstalling the keyboard software but it wont install stating I already have the latest version so I uninstalled and reinstalled. I've also jut uninstalled some software to see if that was the culprit. I can't remember where the repair windows is and will be rebooting now to se if anything I did helped and look for it then. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Lynn

Reply: (edit)Well, I rebooted and it didn't help. Checked the event log 2 of which said: The Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. and The Multimedia Class Scheduler service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.' Can't quite figure out what screwed this up so I can't figure out how to fix it. Again, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Lynn

Reply: (edit)Well, I tried this and it didn't help however the sound icon was immediately activated. Added new drivers and there's no difference. I think I'll try to uninstall it completely and reinstall. The biggest issue now (so far) is the volume keys don't work and I use them all the time. Will reboot first... Lynn

Reply: (edit)Guess I never updated this. Went to services and changed the order of startup services and it's fixed now. Thanks for the responses. Lynn
