Do you have any problems installing any other software/specifically GAMES, on your computer?

if you're running 64bit vista that's probably what's making that happen. the same thing was happening to me untill i downgraded to 32bit so i'm gona guess you might need to downgrade too.

Do not downgrade your Vista!! I have Windows Vista 64 bit and I don't have any problems whatsoever with The Sims 3. That is NOT your problem. My game runs really smoothly. If you downgrade your Vista and you have more than 4MB of ram on your system it won't work properly. 32bit OS's have a 4MB limit. Windows Vista 64 bit is always necessary if you have more than 4 MB of ram. Check www.thesims3.com as numerous people have had difficult with this game including installations and running of it.

Do you have a DVD Rom? If you're just using a CD Rom the game won't work as the newer Sims games are now all on DVD's.

A lot of people have problems with this game working, mainly the launcher. There are loads of threads there that have solved the problem for many. Firstly, make sure your anti-virus program is off. The Sims is notorious since Sims 1 for not installing properly with an anti-virus program running in the background.
