Setting up a home network with windows vista and xp :
Can someone please help me!I am trying to set up my home network after installing windows vista 2 on my
desktop. I have a High Speed router and Dell desktop and a dell laptop.
When I was using XP on both computers, everything went well. I was able to
share internet connection using the router and share files and printer with
the home network.
Now since I installed the vista on the desktop, I can't see my laptop at
all. When I go through vista (on the desktop), it only shows my desktop and
the D-link router, no laptop. Idem for the laptop, it cannot see anything but
itself.
I tried running the vista home network connection wizard without success. I
also used the jump drive to install on the laptop, without success either.
Thanks for your very anticipated help,Krishna

It may be that both computers are not on the same workgroup?? i.e. "WORKGROUP" or "MSHOME" etc. I have XP and Vista on home network with no problems.

Both computers are in the Same Workgroup.
i.e 'WORKGROUP'.
and I checked with network Connection.Everything is correct.
my router IP Address : 192.168.1.1
Laptop IP Address : 192.168.1.2
Desktop IP Address : 192.168.1.3I have installed MCafee Antivirus though it is also detect my network connection computers. But one system is perfect but another one is in question mark "?" symbol.
But two systems r connect through the router ..No HUB i have. Pls help in this case.Krishna

Please check firewall settings on vista make sure file and printer sharing is on & disable any NORTON INTERENET SECURITY firewall.
