OS: Vista x64
Video: NVIDIA 8500

I am trying to switch resolution to 720p. NVIDIA used to have a wicked tray app to achieve this but it does work in x64 environment so I am using a program called ResSwitch (also tried Qres) instead. (I like to map a shortcut key to my Remote Wonder).

Using this command I can change to 720p

ResSwitch /WIDTH:1228 /HEIGHT:688 /FREQ: 60
(The res is adjusted to fit my screen)

The problem is the refresh rate switch never works, and if I use it or not, sometimes the PC decides to switch to a refesh rate of 30 Hertz instead of 60 and so I need to switch it manually using the Windows interface.

I get the same problem switching back to 1080i, and sometimes it uses a refresh rate of 29 Hertz.

I am open to suggestions to achieve this result so if you have an idea please let me know. If I could force Windows to hide the 29 Hertz refresh rate, that would help as well.

Thanks.

After trying several command line utilities that would not change the refresh rate even though they were supposed to, 12 Noon's Display Changer does the job.

Pass it on
