Can someone please look at there security settings on their boot drive (c: drive)and tell me what your default (checked) settings are for USERS. You will see a list there: example - full, modify and so on. Like a dummy I had changed some things and didn't write the default settings down. UAC is a little bit of a pain. Thanks

Thx for fast Reply XpUser, but I was needing to know what the security settings was for USERS on the boot drive (c:). What is checked. Right click on C: drive, properties and then click on security tab. Then I need to know what is checked off on the Users part.

Thx

Hey heropsycho,

Thanks for filling in. The info you gave pertains to Files & Folders Permissions. I believe the OP is asking about Vista Special Permissions located under User Properties/Settings. If that is it, this article should help.

Speaking of File & Folder permissions, Vista version appears to be different from XP. Look HERE for more info.

At the same time, I just found out that if you are running Vista Home Basic or Home Premium you will have no Security tab on the file and folder properties. In addition this MS article tells me that if you use FAT32 file system you won't see it no matter what Vista edition you use.

Enuf of this heavy stuffs - It's now time for me to enjoy my coffee :-)

That's because FAT32 by definition isn't NTFS.

Long version in my post = special permissions.

Actually, NTFS hasn't changed, and the permissions model is the same between XP and Vista. They renamed the pre-created folder for easy sharing, but that's it.
