Hi, I've just bought Vista and I'm having a bit of trouble. Whenever I create a new file I can only save it into the default user folder. If I go to save it in a different drive I'm told I don't have permission to save files there without Admin permission. I've checked my account in safe mode and my account is an Admin account.

Whats the problem here? How do I fix this.
Thanks for any help.

Did you try taking ownership of the folder.

To take ownership of a folder

- Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.

- Click the Security tab, click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.

- Click Edit. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

- Click the name of the person you want to give ownership to.

- If you want that person to be the owner of files and subfolders in this folder, select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box.

- Click OK.

That is the nature of Vista. It is protecting you from yourself. (it is good like that)

Simply hit the continue button and you will then see UAC popup and ask you for permission. (unless you disabled it)

It never gave me the option to continue, I just had to save it in the User folder.

"....you will then see UAC pop up and ask you for permission. (unless you disabled it)"
That gives me an idea, heh.

Thanks Sabertooth, I did that to all my drives. Now I can save where I want.

OK, another Question.

For some reason when I go to install G-Mod for Half Life 2 I get this error:

"NSIS Error:
The Installer you are trying to install is Corrupted or incomplete.
This could be a result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a Virus.

blah blah

It may be possible to skip this check by using the /NCRC Command line switch.
(NOT RECOMMENDED)"

I've downloaded two different versions of G-Mod and tried compatibility mode but it doesn't seem to work. Any Ideas? I am downloading version 9 BTW.
