runtime error! how do i fix it step by step

Can't seem to fix it and google isnt helping. cant log into outlook, or log into my computer at all sometimes. It will shut down on its own
and restarting it does not work

See if you can boot to safe mode and run sfc.exe and then see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228

Could boot to safe mode and try system restore point to time when it worked correctly.

Othewise you might have to boot to the Vista DVD and try the repair feature. Might have to reload apps after that.
