Rga to Video dumping windows

Specs: Windows Vista
I recently purchased a plug and play Rga to Video Converter for my laptop.
I have everything hooked up properly and have no problems viewing movies or anything else.
The problem is that everytime I use it and watch a video it dumps all my files, pic's & ect. It actually puts my laptop back to a new system as if i had never used it before. Even I.E opens up as though it is opening for the first time.

Any ideas...this is strange since there are no software programs involved

It's really hard to explain...but i'll try some more:
Say I just hooked up my laptop to the converter and watched a movie.
Then when finished I unhook and reboot my computer. Once fully up.....all my personal programs, files, pics, favorites...ect. are all gone. Now If I reinstall all of the items I lost and reboot, they are there...
But when I hook up the converter it only works if I reboot my system after hooking it up.
So once rebooted with the converter hooked up, it will then flash a screen saying it has logged on under a temperary account. what?? and why??????
Then another pop up allows me to choose between which way to view, weather on TV alone or on both Tv and Laptop. I always choose both on TV and Laptop so I can use it to find more movies on Netflix to watch.
Then I open Firefox...which is the only thing I haven't lost....but Firefox opens as if it is its first time...missing all my favorites.
