Subject: Remove VistaOS: XP HomeCPU/Ram: Athlon 64 4000 |
Comment: I have an HP notebook that came with Vista Prem and I'm tired of this freakin OS. I want to put XP Home on here. Would booting from an XP OEM disk do the trick? Reply: (edit)sure you can boot with the disk, remove vista, reload xp. if thats a very new hp, there may be little or no drivers for xp i have found out on various occasions. i have a compaq here delivered wirth vista. all the latest hardware. xp will run on it, but the hardware is so proprietary and setup for vista, theres no xpp drivers for it. i laike vista, try it for awhile. nobody liked xp either when it came out

Reply: (edit)before you remove vista you are going to need to find out who makes your sound card graphics card and chipset and downlaod those drivers made for xp then you can install xp. You're not stuck with vista you just need to manually find those drivers from those vendors websites.

Reply: (edit)Be sure to test your OEM Vista restore cd/dvd's first or know how to make or get them in case you want them later. Many complaints about vista are keeping some people using xp still. I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Reply: (edit)Your OEM XP disk may not be activated when installed on another system. So you may have to buy another XP licence for your new PC. Be sure to create Vista Recovery DVD as advised earlier in Response #3 if it did not come with your new system and do not remove any partition where Vista recovery data is lying. Regards SuatCINI
