I am using Win XP Pro and want to support a friend's computer running Vista Home Home Premium. I have read that I won't be offer Remote Assistance from my XP machine to the Vista machine (see: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/ar...
So, I'd like to know whether there's an alternative to Remote Assistance that would work from XP to Vista. Thanks.

you might try pc anywhere. but, since vista is written in a diff code language, pc anywhere may not work. i know i can't send a print job from a vista setup, thru a xp setup that has the printer connected to it. vista is highly secure and tough to network even.

After trying virtually all the prominent remote assist tools out there -- including all the ones listed above, nothing is as intuitive & works as good as TeamViewer. Once you try it, I doubt you'll want to try anything else.

I thought I'd post a follow up message to say that I tried both Logmein and Teamviewer for remote support.
Logmein looks good if you want to support someone a lot and need to access their computer without them being at it. But you do need to install a program on their computer and create a user account etc for each computer you support.
But I found Teamviewer really good for supporting people on an occassional basis. Someone needing support just has to go to: http://www.teamviewer.com/download/... and run a small program (copy this program to the desktop for future sessions) then they tell me the ID and password and I can link up instantly. It's so easy and it's really good. I'm going to use it for all the friends I support from now on. Thanks Sabertooth!
