Dear All, My laptop,Acer Aspire 8930G does not reboot if required after updating or installing software. It shuts down Vista and remain in a black screen while the laptop is on. Have some one experienced this problem ever? Thanks in advance.

I have a similar problem but mine is a home-built desktop PC. My PC sometimes seems to be restarting after a restart request from a program or Windows update, but upon restart, I get nothing on the monitor screen. Not even the BIOS post screen. But I hear fans and hard disk spinning. Whenever I experience this phenomenon, I press the Reset button on the PC case and then restart process resumes where it has left off. I think my PC is pretending to be shutting down for a restart, but it never does because Windows updates continue to install after I reset my PC. I could have never known what has been causing this. Since your notebook is mfg'ed by Acer, I suggest you should contact Acer for a solution or look into forums over the internet. Regards SuatCINI
