re merging partitions

with 'partition genius' I want to merge 2 partitions the merge option ia greyed out therefore un-available
perhaps NFTS file systems cannot be merged?
also, is it feasible to change NFTS file system back to fat32

NFTS file systems can be merged. I assume that one of your partitions is the bootable C drive. That might be why 'partition genius' won't allow you to merge them. Does the other partition contain any programs or just data ? If you back up the data, then you could reformat the nonbootable partition and then try to reallocate the free space to the C drive instead of merging. If the other partition contains programs, you would have to reinstall the programs to the C drive.

what about changing NFTS back to fat 32 i used to prefer fat 32

Why not use Vista to merge the partitions?
Pretty sure you can't convert directly to fat.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

vista is on the drive I wish to merge with another smaller drive to give vista more space for your info I run xp on C and dual boot vista on D then E & F are smaller drives I use for extra stuff I really don't need both of them
