Hi guys. Perhaps you can finally sort something thats been geting on my chuff for the last couple of days.
I've tried and tried numerous things, and googled my ass off.
I'll hand you all the details and facts, so i don't confuse matters further.
OK i am running Vista Business. My ISP is BT and i have a BTHomehub.
I have a dynamic IP address.
I'd like to be able to access my home PC from anywhere, specifically files, and to download them to where i am.
I have signed up to dyndns and have a hostname. My BT Homehub had dyndns enabled and the host and username and password filled out.
I even tried getting my IP address from whatsmyip.com and then tried accessing my pc from another pc(although on my lan)using the ip address(not local ip) and that failed. I have forwarded the ports for vnc on my homehub.
Even rdp fails to connect.
Could this be because i am trying it from within my lan.
I ping the ip address from the cmd prompt and it returns 0ms. Thtas what made me suspicious.
Any help woiuld be great.
Sorry if ive missed anything or the spellings duff but my missus is beating on the floor and wants something.
Thanks

There are a lot of things that can can go wrong, most likely it's a firewall or NAT issue. you just need to get around that.

either get hamachi, (www.hamachi.cc)

or Cspace (http://cspace.in)

Both programs create secure TCP tunnels from one point to the other. Cspace allows you to transfer files without using VNC, and has RealVNC built into it, Hamachi will let you transfer files Via windows file sharing, and you can run any version of VNC you want with it.
