Comment:
g'day,
i just downloaded both the x86 and x64 versions of Vista RC2 and burnt them to disc.. i also just bought and built a new rig with a pentium D 805 and i know that it supports the 64bit versions of OS's. what i would like to know is, is there any advantage in using the 64 bit version and will all my old 32bit software and games work with the 64?

Although the x64 version of Windows has been out for a while now, the major complaint has always been the less appealing driver support for the platform.
Look at XP 64-Bit, it failed to make a noticable impact in that realm and unless something positively drastic happens with Vista's device driver support & application compatibility - a similar fate lies ahead of it too IMHO.
I suggested the 32-Bit version (in your other thread) & maintain the same here, however you can try your hands on a side by side implementation and see how that pans out for you, but don't be disappointed if you do not see a compelling reason to continue with the x64 version of the OS - A good site to reference is below.
