Why should I trust third party?

If I were to beta-test Vista RC1, I would waut for M$ to reopen the program to new testers (they are planning to at some time in the very near future following the second round of RC1 with their partners).

Quoted in part from this article published 09/05/06:

Microsoft said it will also make RC1 available to the more than 2 million members of the Windows Vista Customer Preview Program who received Beta 2, and will reopen the program to new testers.

I misread it. that link is for those who participated in the beta 2 customer preview.
it's not a third party link. that is the microsoft rc1 download page.

"If you registered for this program in June, please look for a recent e-mail message from Microsoft (sent in early September) with information regarding RC1.

If you are not registered but would like to receive Windows Vista RC1, the CPP will open to new participants in the coming weeks.

Please check this site periodically for updates."

Remember one more thing - Vista RC1 is a time-limited software programmed to implode on June 1, 2007.

I downloaded BETA2 but never got around to trying it. I downloaded RC1 yesterday & installed in a dual boot config with XP on my 2ndary machine. I've played around with it for a few hours now...seems kinda Lindows/Linspire-ish to me. Maybe I've gotta get into it more, but I don't get what all the Vista salivating's about?

It's mainly about the spectacular visual effect (eye candy) called AERO :-)

Jam, do you not find working on Windows Vista is a more streamlined experience than XP? Multiple improvements to the start menu and search features mean it's a lot quicker to get around. Not to mention all the added extras in the Ultimate Edition. Oh and better security too, even the windows firewall will be good enough for most users this time around.
