Random Shutdowns

Specs: Windows XP
I was away for a weekend and left my computer on. When I returned home my computer was frozen and a long continuous beep was coming from the tower. I turned the computer off and started it up and it worked normally. However, now sometimes my computer will just randomly shut off, there is no warning, the screen just goes back and the computer is down. My antivirus software is up to day and has been run, I have tried system restores and monitering my system heat. My temp never goes above 40 degrees C.
It seems completely random, sometimes I can go for 15-20 minutes before it shuts off, other times I'll be on it for 5 hours without it shutting off.
Can anyone help shed some light on whats going on?

Single beeps on some boards indicate failed memory. Get memtest86 and test your memory.
