Reply: (edit)Did you try installing the driver in compatability mode for Windows XP SP 2 ? Vista sometimes gives that option when you run an executable file.

Reply: (edit)i have tried the suggestions above to no luck. trying to install the drivers in xp compatability mode gives an error which explains these drivers are not for vista and the Lyra system tray application doesnt include the drivers and is of no help at all

Reply: (edit)seems you have some piece of hardware that is not compatible to Vista ... happens. get VirtualBox (free), setup a virtual windows XP computer (make sure you have sound and USB enabled in the VBox console before you setup XP) and enjoy your old 256mb MP3 player as you did with your old computer. MS' own virtualizer (VPC) does not support USB devices and the performance is rather poor (gently spoken).

Reply: (edit)I have a RCA Lyra RD1028, I have no need for drivers. I just plug it in via usb and drag mp3 or wma files to it in windows explorer. It works as a flash drive. I don't know if your RD 2312 is the same or not.
