Subject: problems at shutdown
OS: ?
CPU/Ram: ?
Model/Manufacturer: HP
Comment:

I had to power down my notebook when it first happened first.
Now it continuosly tries to install the updatte during shutdown
and then it hangs and never shuts down. Therefore I have to force
power down continuously. The message it gives at shut down is "please do not turn off or power down your computer. Windows is installing automatic updates....installing updates 1 of 1". The update never installs and it does this each time.

I have no idea why this started or what the solution is. Can anyone help?

It would help if you could give more info, such as your operating system. Were you trying to update Windows Vista to SP1 ?

I have 3GB of RAM and it is a 32 bit OS. No I was not trying to update anything. It started byself.Sounds like a lot of people are having this problem from what I've seen on the web. Any advice would be great.

Turn off automoatic updates and then try.. if that doesn't fix, try safe mode with networking and then install updates manually. See if that fixes it.

i used to get this alot on my laptop during shut and windows just updates continuously it can take forever, but it kinda sorted itself out after configuring its update during a start up, try seeing in your update centre whether its asking for a restart or something coz thats what i did n it only happens everynow n then......
