Reply: (edit)"Don't worry, your Vista DVD will give you the option to wipe your system partition" i think i've been posting a similiar problem. vista did NOT give the option to wipe the system partition if a previous vista installation is present. Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

Reply: (edit)"i think i've been posting a similiar problem. vista did NOT give the option to wipe the system partition if a previous vista installation is present." The OPs previous installation in this case is XP, Anyhow, if booting from the installation DVD - you WILL have the option to do that. If you are trying to do it from within Windows, of course Windows will not let you - that metaphorically amounts to asking it to chop itself off at the knees. How To Ask Questions The Smart Way
