Printing black blocks

Specs: Windows Vista
Hi
I'm running VISTA Home Premium 32bit and have a problem printing images from some applications. When printed from within PSP I only get a black block where the image should print. All looks good in preview. I've tried different formats - jpg/tif/gif, to no avail.
I've tried replacing drivers and am up to date on Canon Pixma IP4700. I don't believe its the printer as I had the same problem on an epson. Can print to the same printer fine from another machine

I have managed to pritn some images by inserting them into Word documents, but this doesn't work every time & I can't see any consistency.

PC is a Dell with 2Gb memory

Any assistance gratefully received

Damaged documents or documents that contain damaged graphics or damaged fonts can cause print errors in Word. Before you reinstall drivers or software, test the Word program's ability to print. get more help from here also...
