OS: Vista Ultimate
CPU/Ram: AMD/2gb
Model/Manufacturer: Compaq
Comment:
I am trying the Shift-PrtScn and paste into Photoshop to get a capture of the active window but its not working.

I tried it in combination with Alt and Ctrl also but no luck.

I am not looking for a screen capture utility and I just want this to work like it did in XP.

Any ideas?

What's wrong with Vista built-in Paint program? Hit PrtScn (no shift) key to capture the whole screen then CTRL-V (or paste) it into Paint.

Alt+PrtScn will give you the active window.

Don't know if your computer is a laptop or not, but if your "Prt Scn" requires the function key, the sequence would be Alt/Fn/Prt Scn. Works fine on my Vista.

Also, the correct name for Vista's built-in screen capture feature is "Snipping Tool". It gives you a lot more options in capturing screen images.
