PLEASE HELP!!! Quick Partition Q

Dell / 1330
February 14, 2009 at 23:30:31
Specs: Vista, P4
Let me be brief and clear with my intentions: I want to
recover some files on my D:\ then do a full HDD reformat and reinstallation.

My current status;

C:\ = 2 Gb of Unallocated Data
D:\ 100+ Gb of my Vista O/S....(uncompromised)

Problem: My Bootup looks for the O/S on C:\, but its
[inadvertantly] been moved to D! How can I, via the
EASIEST means possible, get in to Vista and save my files?

Much Thanks for any input

How far does the boot process go? Have you tried F8 or F12 for other boot options?

You could try booting in with the Vista disk and use the repair option.
Just curious, how did Vista get onto D?

Repair Option doesnt work. I will try Ubuntu or PMagic.

Dell has a MediaDirect button with some of its Laptops. If
you press it while your comp is off, and you havent installed
that application, its uses its Dell intelligence to move C to D;
of course, why not?

Very inteligent, pity they don't have another button to move it back to where it belongs, idiots.
