Comment:

I am trying to install vista ultimate 64 on a hard drive i recently formatted. problem is when i put the disk in and boot from it it loads then crashes. It loads the "windows is loading files" the progress bar goes to the end, then just stops. I figured maybe it takes a while but i have left it for 2 hours and nothing changes. The dvd is clean and has no scratches or fingerprints and loads just fine normally. Also just in case it was my DVD drive i have tried 2 different drives and it still doesn't work.
I could really use some help, any ideas?

Running
velociraptor HD SATA
MSI K9A2 Platinum
AMD phenom 9850 black edition
Ballistic Ram 4x 1 gig

How did you format the HDD ? In another machine ?

I suggest you uninstall the volume you recently formatted and leave it to Vista to format and all. Then attempt to install Vista. You may need to supply drivers for your SATA controller during the install.
