Hey Guys, Im having a problem booting my computer. Im not sure if this should be in this section or the Hardware section as I do not believe it is a software problem. So if this is the wrong section I am sorry.

Here's the problem, Occasionally (and becoming more frequent) when I turn my computer on, I hear the fans spin up but nothing else happens. The computer does not even get to POST. They Keyboard does not initialize. It happens most commonly after installing new software or updates that require my machine to restart. When I do a Hard Shutdown, the problem does not happen as often (but it still happens sometimes). I often have to unplug my notebook and remove the battery for about 3-5 minutes before it will work again.

Since it does not even POST, I do not think it is a software problem or a problem with the OS. So far I have run CHDISK on my Hard drive, Reset the Memory, Run Memtest with successful results (Memory is OK), and even flashed the BIOS, and I am still having the same problem. Does anybody have any ideas what might be causing this. Thanks in advance!

I would have to say it is probably a hardware problem since sometimes your computer doesn't boot. I would have to say that you toshiba should still be under warranty so if I was you contact them so that you are able to send it back to them so they can repair it.

Hi Jack,

I tried that option just after posting this thread. Unfortuanlty that did not solve the problem. I think this is more of a hardware problem, Im going to repost in the hardware section. Thanks for your responses!

The bleep testing is a good start and should draw your
attention to any obvious problems.

It sounds like it could be a power problem to me, or
maybe even busted RAM. It definitely has the makings of
a hardware problem rather than a software issue. But just
to be sure, have you installed any new hardware recently?
Added any external devices that might be messing with
your configuration and causing the system to crash? I'd
pin a guess on a power failure still but check out that
bleep resource.
