If you have an audio out socket on the laptop and audio in on the tv, use a matching cable to connect the two.
Most modern tv's have the option for audio in, some may have a digital connection, check the tv manual.
Usually this requires a lead with 3.5mm plug on one end for the laptop, with 2 RCA plugs on the other for the tv.

You could also use the same cable, and plug it into a Hi-fi (Are those still around nowdays lol?).

I have mine plugged into a hifi, and it makes a wonderful difference watching movies.
