Comment: you know when windows asks for permission to instal a program i want it to ask for a password too. I just want the password feature so no one else using my computer installs stuff on it thanks

Reply: (edit)First password protect your own account if you are the sole adm. Thereafter no one can install programs without knowing your password. It's that simple. i_XpUser

Reply: (edit)The other solutions are better, but if you also want to protect against this if someone does a simple "session hijacking" by using your computer after you walked away and forgot to log off, do the following: Open your Local Policy Editor and set "User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode" to "Prompt for credentials". "Enough, enough bowing down to disillusion! Hats off & applause to rogues & evolution! The ripple effect is too good not to mention. If you’re not affected, you’re not paying attention!"
