Hi all, I have a nagging problem that I have googled thoroughly but
cannot find anything that applies specifically to the trouble I'm
having. I'm running Windows Vista and everytime I wish to start an Office
2007 program (Word, Excel etc:) it brings up a number of
different messages relating to "preparing to install", "configuring"
etc: The messages don't always seem to be the same, some instances
bring up the enterprise install screen while other don't. The programs will
eventually load up and run fine but the time taken to load with all
the messages can vary from 1 minute to 10 minutes. Office had been working fine on the computer for a few weeks and it all began happening after installing and removing Office XP
recently. It was only after removing Office XP that the trouble
began, while it was installed, the two suites coexisted happily. In
googling I found quite a few references to the windows installer clean
up utility, I have tried this with no success. I have also tried re-
installing Office Enterprise twice now to no avail. I made sure to
delete any relevant references to "office" in the registry prior to
doing this. I have also run the Office Diagnostics which detected and
supposedly repaired 1 issue but this made no difference either. I'm
very frustrated now as I initially thought it would be an easy fix but
it is turning into a rather large dilemma. If anyone has some helpful
information that could lead to a solution it would be MOST
appreciated, I'm really not wanting to re-install Vista and start
again !

Any information people have on this subject would be appreciated...

when installing office have you made sure to install all features (custom install / run all from my computer)?

Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

Exactly what I was going to suggest, mattie. Also, Windza, there is an Office forum for this very type of problem. :)

Thanks people, I just wasn't sure if the problem lies with Vista or Office (seems it could be permissions related). I have done some fairly comprehensive steps to try and resolve this:
- reinstalled O2007 four times (ensuring to "run all from my computer")
- cleaned registry
- followed microsofts manual removal KB article for 2007
- run office repair and diagnostices multiple times
- installed ALL Vista and Office updates
- run Windows Installer Clean up Utility to ensure all traces of OXP are gone

I have also just removed O2007 and reinstalled OXP and found that now my OXP is doing the same thing... I'm stuck now with two Office Suites that don't work !
Maybe a Vista re-install is on the cards... what a nightmare !

Forgot to mention, I have also reregistered msiexec prior to reinstalling O2007...
