it will work, but there seem to be issues with SP3

Yes
I have installed MS Office Standard Edition and it works with no problems.
I installed all except Outlook, so not sure how outlook would act with Vista.

I didn't know about the problem with sp3, because I have never run any updates on my MS Office 2000, and have had no problems.

what's wrong with office 2007 (except the price :-)?

or OpenOffice 2.10 which beats Office 2000 hands down ... and it's free.

Office 2000 isn't the only one deemed compatible with Vista. There are many more...

According to M$ watcher Mary Jo Foley, M$ is set to publicize a list of 800 Vista-compatible applications (ostensibly to promote greater migration to Vista). Stay tuned.

Price is a factor and I've been using Office 2000 for years - I'm a 'stick in the mud' !!

XpUser - thanks for the Link

U're welcome. I reckoned that at my age life's getting very short. So I went out & bought Office 2997 to go with Vista Home Business. Believe me it's a big improvement from all earlier versions and faster too.

FWIW I found Open Office's Word equivalent fully compatible with MS Office 2000. The same was true of Excel spreadsheets but any graphs had to be re-done or modified.
