Am in the process of preparing to install Window Vista Ultimate on my Windows XP Professional machine. The Vista Readingess Test shows that I have all requirements to sucessfully upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate. I have researched and downloaded all the new Vista Drivers for all of my hardware but have one question.

I am running a NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Video Card and have just found Vista Drivers that were written and made available to the public on January 31st.

The only components that are being called into question by the Vista Readiness Test are the NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA Controller, the NVIDIA nForce4 Parallel ATA Controller, the NVIDIA Network Bus Enumerator, and the NVIDIA nforce PCI System Management.

I am waiting to install the NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Vista Drivers until after I do a clean install of Vista Ultimate.

Will the upgrade 6600 NVIDIA GeForce drivers include the drivers for the above listed items. I don't know where else to look and have Googled until I am Googled Out.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

p.s. I have 2 gigs of DDR400 3200 Ram and 350 gigs of hard drive with 120 gigs on a primary drive and the other on a partioned SATA drive.

Almost all newer board have built-in firmware for SATA controllers & Vista should load virtually all the other drivers including the one for your GF 6600 - no worries.

There are some crucial parts of your computer among 'the only components that are being called into question by the Vista Readiness Test' (a contradiction in terms - vista itself is far from being ready itself :-).

however, here's the official nVidia driver page (plenty of reports indicate that their drivers are not 'vista reeady' yet):

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drive...

you should backup all valuable data before 'upgrading' in case something goes haywire.

p.s.: maybe you should wait a while and see how the story 'Vista + nVidia' develops ...

Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

I have install these drivers after doing an clean install of Vista. It is a new MSI K9N motherboard and the on board lan is slow. I think it is a driver problem but have not had time to research fully.
