i have a quadcore pc/with asus p5n-e- sli motherboard...with 8800 gt graphics card
the graphics card does not have vga port but dvi instead. so i had to buy dvi to vga converter and so connected to my monitor.
drivers...everything are installed.
whenever i turn my computer on sometimes it detects it and the light on the monitor goes green and it all turns on fine... but sometimes it just does not come up and the light does not change and nothing comes up on the screen but i can hear the audio going in to the login screen.
can someone help me out please... its really frustrating and i really need some help and guidance
thank you

Post the make/model, wattage & amperage specs of your power supply. Do you have the 6-pin PCI-e power plug connected to the card?
"And that's the fishing line, because Sharkboy said so!"

I suspected NVIDIA graphic cards do not work well with Vista.
I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS and it struggles with graphics, even in a basic site like this webpage. I researched if it was possible to upgrade it to a more powerful graphic card but I encountered a limitation with my power supply (300W).
Further research discovered that my Router Linksys WTR54G has a conflict with Vista and its built-in security.
When I remove the router from the setup the access to graphics is great, but with the router it crawls.
So it was a networking problem rather than the NVIDIA card.ZoneAlarm, BitDefender, Scan with , SpyBot

Update to my previous message:
I was a ZoneAlarm firewall user for years. Recently, my ZoneAlarm would not start automatically when I boot the system.
ZoneAlarm is pushing users of their FREE version to buy another version at a cost.
I found almost impossible to download a new FREE version, forcing me to research other FREE firewalls. I found COMODO Pro, free, to be highly rated.
I removed ZA and installed COMODO Pro.
The system is the fastest I ever experienced and that was before Comcast doubled its Internet speed.
I would test changing firewalls and see if the graphic card problem goes away.
