Nothing will boot after installing Ubuntu.

June 1, 2011 at 04:05:24
Specs: Windows Vista
I installed Ubuntu onto an external hard drive and now nothing will boot...
I was receiving a "grub rescue" prompt. I can boot from a Ubuntu CD and I can see my Windows information listed in "places." I was able to try a windows rescue CD and it locates my OS but can't seem to repair the boot process.

I have super grub disk but don't know what to do with it.

I would like to regain access to all my programs instead of doing a clean re-install.

Can anyone help?

try another recovery cd,
boot up from the cd and try another repair.then open a command prompt, type in FixMBR, hopefully that will fix the issue.
