Is there any modified driver that will allow me to use Stereo Mix as a recording device with my SigmaTel sound card?

On some OEM systems, you can enable this via: - Start → Control Panel → Hardware and Sound
- Sound → Recording Tab
- Right Click in window under that tab
- Check "Show Disabled Devices" & "Show Disconnected Devices"
- You would then have a "Stereo Mix" entry
- And you simply Right Click & choose "Set as Default Device"
More than likely, your Gateway won't let you do that. if it doesn't let us know.
I did that already and nothing shows up.
That was what I anticipated :-( As a last ditch effort you can try the LG XNOTE -- SigmaTel v.5.10.0.4866 sound driver from here & if that doesn't work, you may need to install a software emulator like Total Recorder to get "Stereo Mix" on your machine.
For some reason their server's are really slow it's only going 2.8 KB/PS. Will this drver work for Wndows Vista?
If that server is slow, try googling for other links using the driver version. The driver is for XP/2000 but it should also work under Vista -- this question is whether it will resolve your "Stereo Mix" issue or not. That part is non-guaranteed & you won't know for sure till you have it installed.
When I installed the driver I got a error saying "The Device would not start." Is there another updated driver for my sound card (SigmaTel STAC9205 V6.10.5609.0 - Avalon K8F) that has Stereo Mix or is Total Recorder my only option now?
Looks like you are OOL with everything else but Total Recorder :-(
I don't think the Total Record software is working right because it still keeps recording from my mic.
