Specs: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, 2.79 GHz / 1502 MB
So maybe you guys can help me. A friend of mine gave me this above laptop. It came with XP Home and everything worked fine. So I decided to install Vista Home Premium just for the heck of it. Now I get no sound through the speakers. I checked the device and nothing appears to be muted as far as I can tell.

1. Click on Start and then Control Panel.

2. Click on the System and Maintenance link.
Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Double-click on the System icon, followed by the Device Manager link under Tasks, and then proceed to Step 4.

3. In the System and Maintenance window, click on the Device Manager link near the bottom of the window.

4. Can you see any red markers? ...anything indicating an error?

No sir, all +'s. Let me ask you this. This laptop came with XP Home and I just installed Vista Home Premium. Do you think that could be the problem?

For hardware to work on the laptop using Vista you need device drivers designed for the system. The 7322GZ was never intended for Vista so there are no hardware drivers on their site for the system. Either you change the system back to XP Home using the disks that should have come with it or try downloading the Conexant driver from Gateway intended for Vista. No guarantees that this will work since there was no support to try using Vista on this machine. Gateway audio driver
