does the sound tray icon have a red cross on it?
or any other symtom like "no audio device"
eg.

(right click bottom r/corner to enlarge)

... if NO errors and you have subwoofer surround sound etc
try switching cables around.
... tried this on a friends and poof everything OK now

Hi mrmacca

Press] windows/Flag key + Pause key (go to)
> Device Manager > +sound,video game* (<<anything here?)
... it should show audio drivers here
... if they're here it wo'nt be a driver problem.

... as soon as you plug in the cables correctly, it'll
detect source from external speakers etc

... (like) the image in the link which should change dramatically
to 3d type images of speakers ... (bells n whistles)
then you'll have sound.
