Right-click anywhere on the desktop. When the menu appears, click View and slide the mouse arrow over and down to ...Show Desktop Icons. Put a check mark there. If it is already checked then tap F8 while booting up and let us know if you can get desktop icons from Safe Mode. There is a possibility you have a virus.
