No CD/DVD recognition

May 10, 2010 at 09:51:55
Specs: Windows Vista
My windows does no longer recognise my CD-DVD unit. If I push the button to open it before desktop appears (windows), it works, but after that i'm getting a message which says that I can now deconnect it safely (same message like those for memory stick, mp3...) My antivirus does not detect any problem. When I run a system diagnostic it says there is no cd-dvd unit found. What to do? I have to say that the cd-dvd unit can be remove from my laptop, but there is no problem with slot or something (otherwise why is he detected at the beggining?) Please help me?

Please refer to the MS KB Article in HERE.

If it does not help, then remove your DVD DRIVE in Device Manager and restart your computer. This may help sort out your problem.
