No CD burning possible

Specs: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, 2.2 GHz / 2046 MB
Windows Vista Home was installed recently on a formatted HDD. With the DVD RW files can be executed to install, but CD burning does not work with Vista's own burning facility. Files are loaded, but when burning is started the process is aborted, the CD ejected with the message: "burning error".

Using Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 the same happens.

With Active@ Iso burner, the drive is recognised (PHILIPS DVDR1648P1) and the CD-ROM in it is recognised as a writable CD. After hitting the BURN button, files load but the burning process is aborted, the CD ejected with the message "burning error"

What to to make CD burning possible ? Any help welcome.

This error message normally occurs when following conditions are true:

1. A file you are trying to burn has a dollar sign ($) character in the file name extension.

2. You are using the Mastered disc format to burn the files.

To solve this problem, rename the file name extension of the file.
